Boat Refitting

When we first bought “Slip Away,” we knew we had some work to do to get her ready for our voyage.  We thought we had a pretty good idea of what needed to be done, but as we got into it, our "To-Do" list grew and grew.  Some work was absolutely necessary from a safety standpoint (e.g. rewiring).  Other projects got added as things broke (e.g. refrigeration).  And still others were just things we wanted to do or were ideas we got from other boat owners (e.g. stripping and refinishing the interior wood).

Of course, we haven't finished everything on our "to-do" list and can't imagine that we ever will.  But, perhaps that's why "cruising" is often defined as "working on your boat in exotic places."
